In order to prove herself to her cheating no good father, and because she wants to take care of her mother, Brandi works very hard to become a lawyer. She is engaged to a medical student and she moves to Chicago in order to be near him. The guy ends up cheating on her and marries the girl he cheated with because he knocked her up. In order to pay him back and get some revenge Brandi pawns the ring and buys herself a pair of earrings, a sexy dress, fuck me shoes and she spends the day at the spa. The last part of her revenge is to pick up a hottie and have hot sex with him.

She picks up the hottie, spends the weekend with him, and then finds out that he is her first client at her new job. She is forced to spend time with him even though she was only looking for a one night stand type of thing with him.

Pretty soon they start to be stalked and someone is trying to kill them. It's very obvious to the readers who the stalkers are.

There was some confusion on how Roberto was written. He started off as a strong Italian alpha male, and then somewhere he turned into a talkative everyday Joe. I even kept forgetting that he was supposed to be Italian.

I have always liked Christina Dodd's historicals. I enjoy them so much that she is an auto buy author for me. I don't even read the back first. I just see her name and buy the book. So, I was a little bit disappointed to find that I didn't love this book as much as I do her others. Reason being is that I felt like I reading a Harlequin Presents. Don't get me wrong, I do read HP, and I like them. I just don't want to pay $10.99 for one, and that is what I felt like I did.
