Is this a romance or not?
There had been a lot of heartach, a lot of violence and suffering, but no true romance. A heroine has not even been introduced yet, and I'm pretty far into the book.
The only type if book I want to read lately is romance, and if this is a truly of that genre, I'll read on, but so far I want to put the book down until I'm in the mood for a different genre.
What do I do, read on or put down?

Yes, it's romance. Originally Acheron's story was going to be told in two parts. The first novel was to be released in the spring of this year and be a retelling of his past. Because he's the most prominent character in her Dark Hunter series, she felt he needed two books to tell his story.
For whatever reason (I truly have no idea..I don't think anyone has ever said) only one book was released. That's the book you're reading now. From what I understand (I haven't it yet) the first half of the book is basically what should have been the first book released this year. It tells his backstory and will allow you to see how the character we all know and love came to be (have you read the series? I think this book may make more sense if you have). The second half of the book is what should have been the second book.
So yes, keep reading. It's a romance. ;)
Ash's love story takes place in the 2nd part of the book if I'm not wrong... so you should keep reading...

It's was a good book. I was a bit worried that the girl for Ash would suck, but she is perfect for him.
I'm glad they decided to put both books together instead of releasing them at different times. I know I would have been PISSED to JUST have the first part.
Yes, I've read a few of the books, but not all.
There was actually very little Dark Hunter stuff, so I think that even if someone has not read any of the books, they would still enjoy and understand it all.
Thanks for asking this. Ihad been wondering it but kept forgetting to ask. I have had this book for like two weeks now and keep putting it off. I will have to pick it up now. Darn :)
I still haven't read it, so I could be wrong, but I think you have to read all of them (at least the earlier books) to have a full appreciation for Ash's character. He's such an enigma in the earlier books and his actions so...mysterious most of the time, it makes it hard not to be curious about his past. Plus, things are eluded to and SK really built her world around him. So, there you go..

Yes, I really enjoyed this book and agree that even if you haven't read all of the DH books, you'll still enjoy this book, although you won't really appreciate Ash the same way unless you read the entire series.
Really seeing Ash in this book answered so many questions I've had for years and it was good to see his side of things and all that.
I fell so in love with Ash (more than I was before) and I'm so glad that I read this one.
