Stay with me, by Maya Banks

Ames I read and reviewed Maya Bank's newest release from Samhain called Stay with me.
Check it out over at Breezing Through :)

Getting her back will be the toughest deal they’ve ever negotiated.

On the night of her fifth anniversary, Catherine Cullen-Wellesley intends to break the news to the two men in her life. She’s pregnant with their child. It’ll be the perfect preamble to the vacation they’ve promised her: Two weeks on a Jamaican beach. No cell phones, no emails, no business.

But when Logan and Rhys blow off the trip for yet another “business emergency”, Catherine faces some difficult truths. She hasn’t come first in her busy husbands’ lives in a long time. Defiantly, she packs her bags for her long-awaited vacation—alone. It’ll give her a chance to figure out what the hell she’s going to do with the rest of her life.

When Logan and Rhys come home to an empty house, they realize two things: One, it was a mistake to take Catherine for granted. Two, they’re not willing to just let her walk out of their lives.

Winning her back will be the most difficult battle of their lives—more important than any business deal they’ve ever negotiated.

Bellagio, Inc. public relations genius Trina Roberts had been a bad, bad girl
when she'd gone to bed with a recently jilted groom and wound up pregnant.
She
knew Walker Gordon wasn't looking for forever -- at least not with her.
So when
he took a job overseas, she sort of neglected to tell him about the
baby on the
way. Well, now he's back . . . and he's just figured out the
truth. Walker had
been reeling from a very public breakup when Trina had
offered solace he
couldn't deny. He'd never expected the result would make
him somebody's daddy!
Trina claimed not to need anything from him, but he
was determined that his
child have a father; he just didn't know if it
should be him. Because a father's
shoes . . . well, those he wasn't sure he
could fill.

I adored the other two books in this series, so I'm disappointed at not being able to gush about this one.

After Walker is dumped at the Alter on live TV, he drowns his sorrows in lots of booze, and ends up having a wild night of hot sex with Trina.

Walker moves to Paris for a year not knowing that he has gotten Trina pregnant. Since he lives far away Trina decides that she doesn't have to tell him that he is a father.

When he comes back and finds out that he has a 6 month old daughter he does some research on google, and realises that little girls who grow up without a daddy are at a disadvantage in life. Since his daddy and his Grandfather were dead beat dads, he doesn't think that he can be a good dad either. His solution is to give Trina lots of money, and to help her find a suitable man to marry and be a good daddy to baby Maddie.

So many things got on my nerves in this book. I can't even finish it.
- Trina thinking about killing her baby when she finds out she is pregnant.
- Trina not telling Walter about the pregnancy.
- Walker acting so indifferent about his daughter.
- All the women in labour crying for epidural.
- Dora the assistant getting away with being a complete horses ass.
- Trina wanting to hire a nanny. Um hello, she has one kid. Maddie is already in daycare, and now she needs a nanny?
- Everyone telling Trina that it's time she started dating when she wasn't ready to.
-Walker wanting to date Trina, but still not wanting to tell people that he is the father of her baby.

If it was just a few of those things, then it would not bother me. But I can only take so many 'little things' before they start to ruin a book. I admit that it's all about personal preference, and if none of those things bother you, then you might just love this book as much I loved the other 2 in the series.

Also, this story line has been done a million times. Perhaps if I liked the Hero and Heroine better, then I would have been able to get through it.
I'm going to keep the bookmark in the book, and leave it on my dresser. I liked the other books in this series a heck of a lot, so I want to give this one another chance sometime soon.

For now it's a DNF. Sorry.
The other books are,
Footloose and Feet first

Designing footwear is Jenny Prillaman's life, so getting the plum assignment to
create a socialite's wedding shoes is a dream come true. Dealing with the
heiress is another story. So is staying away from her dreamy new boss, a man too
hot to deny for long, despite Jenny's best intentions of keeping her business
away from his pleasure. Making Ballagio, Inc. an international success is
executive Marc Waterson's career ambition. But his life's desire is to find the
right woman and settle down. Too bad Jenny would rather follow in his corporate
footsteps than try on the glass slippers of a company wife. At least Marc's got
one thing going for him -- the way to a woman's heart is through a really great
pair of shoes!

Jenny is an assistant designer at a very popular shoe company. She is a plain Jane type of gal who has the hots for her boss. After discussing things with her best friends she decides that she is going to have a red hot love affair. Something that she can look back on when she is 80 and smile about. Marc is the perfect candidate for this affair.
After getting rid of her glasses, letting her hair down and dressing a little sexy, Marc starts to see her a different way, and sparks start to fly.

This is a good book that I ate up pretty fast. The sexual tension was well written, and both the Hero & Heroine came alive off the pages.

Jenny knows what she wants, and goes after it. Thats really good, however, at times she came off as desperate. She pretty much begged Marc to have an affair with her. She went as far as writing up a contract promising not to sue him once the affair ends. Oy.

Eventually, the lust turned into love. I enjoyed the way he asked her to marry him. It was sweet and rather romantic.

Read my review of the 3rd book Here.

Think working for a leading international shoe company sounds like a dream
job? Not if you're Amelia Parker, an overworked, downtrodden temp working for
Bellagio, Inc.'s grande dame, Lillian Bellagio. But things are looking up for
Amelia. She's just been given the assignment of accompanying Ms. Bellagio to her
estate in the Keys. Trading pumps for flip-flops and a cell phone for a conch
shell -- could be worse, right?

Especially when life on the
island includes her very own mystery man -- one Jack "The Shark" O'Connell,
dashing venture capitalist. He dares Amelia to use this time to do something
wild: drink a hurricane, go skinny-dipping . . . have an affair with a
dangerously attractive man. But Jack may have ulterior motives for his
attentions, and Amelia will have to decide . . . should she kick Prince Charming
to the curb, or step into that glass slipper?

Pretty cool read! Amelia and Jack meet in Florida and there is instant attraction. Amelia who is trying to get over her asshat ex fiance goes on some dates with Mr. Hottie pants Jack. They spend a few weeks together, and having great sex, of course. Amelia is free with the info about herself, but Jack is vague and wont tell her what he really does for a living. It doesn't bother Amelia too much because this is just a wild fling for her, and she wont ever have to see him again.

Several weeks after they last see each other, Amelia goes to work and runs into him. She finds out that he purposely kept information away from her. (like the fact that he knew he would be working at her company) Amelia is pissed and goes out of her way to avoid him. Jack is pretty smitten with her though, and doesn't give up on trying to start up where they left off in Florida.

The thing I liked best about Footloose is that it spands over a few months. They don't just meet, have sex, fall in love then get married. They go through the different stages of courtship. They have problems and they work those problems out together. The biggest was Jack not being totally honest with her about who he is.

I like Amelia because she went from being this really prissy, blushing do-gooder who spent all her time making sure that the man in her life was happy, and not caring about what she wants. She picked her hair, clothes, car and everything else based on what the ex liked. With help from Jack she grew into a woman who made choices depending on what she wants. It was nice to see her loosen up.

There are two other books in this series. They are called Underfoot, and Foot first. This one can be read as a stand alone no problem.
